this is mostly going to be filled with articles, some art, my opinions and the opinions of others, among other miscellaneous things. FUN STUFF MAN.
if you find me interesting (read: tolerable) enough to follow me, bless you child.

And let me just make a disclaimer stating that i don’t hate fat people, or think the fashion industry is god. I just think we need to look up to real live people who think and talk and breathe.

berryfemme said: not, human-like figures tend to have an influence on how people think, or in the least reflect society's standards, which are maddening to the people who reblogged.

Okay honestly i’m going to go ahead and stop this for several reasons. One, my i don’t have access to a computer and have to read everything i write sideways on my phone and it’s annoying the piss out of me. Two, i posted that on…what, monday? I’ve lost interest. Third„ i’m not going to try to convince you that i’m right because i was stating my opinion and no one said anyone had to agree. Personally i think it’s silly people look at things like mannequins and barbies and have their self esteem shit on when they don’t represent real life. barbie’s tits DEFY THE LAWS OF GRAVITY, TIME AND SPACE, and yet everyone whines and cries about how we can’t all be perfect like her. Mannequins are basically life sized barbies with no hair and oddly posed limbs. I’m sorry for thinking it’s a little bit silly to let them shit on your self esteem.

berryfemme said: do you think the makers of mannequins are immune to societal pressures or something? people make the argument with models that the point of them being thin is so they're like 'clothes hangers' for clothes. but models keep getting thinner and thinner, as the nation gets more obese. why is that?

Models are a different story. They’re human beings that will die if they’re malnourished. They are also easier to look up to and emulate, which makes them more dangerous. I don’t think mannequins are a big deal because they’re weird colors, have no eyes and are, you know, not alive. Just like a barbie or a raggedy ann doll.

If we’re gonna get mad over anyone being too skinny it should be the modeling/fashion industry, not the mannequins that vaguely represent it because unlike people, mannequins ARE clothes hangers, and should have about the same amount of influence as one.

Wow..

Whaaat!? Do mannequins in Sweden really look that much different?? Wow. Beauty standards here in america seem even more unrealistic now :(

We even dehumanize the features in America.

this that a so wrong with the world for shame america!

It’s not H&M in Sweden it’s ÅHLÉNS ^-^

must add though that far from all look like this!

okay guys

guys

listen to me

the focus is supposed to be the CLOTHING. not the mannequin and how realistic it is, the clothing. so it would make sense to wash out the mannequin when they aren’t supposed to be what you’re looking at.

stop freaking out.

But how well do you show how the clothing would look on your every day person if every single mannequin is a size zero? I’m all for this, very proud to be working at Åhléns too :) I wish there would be a mix of mannequins all over the place ^-^

That’s why you try it on. Even if you made a mannequin that was the average clothing size, they don’t account for every single body shape, ever single height, etc. I’ve been a size five before but I by no means could wear boxy clothing or certain necklines and the mannequin isn’t going to show me that—and that’s fine! It’s only supposed to show me a basic picture anyway.

I just think it’s a little ridiculous to raise such a stink over them. I mean, yeah, mannequins shouldn’t be ridiculously small when the average consumer is at LEAST a size five, but mannequins by no means reflect society’s standards. That’s not their job.

Honestly though I don’t get the logic at being offended over what is essentially a DOLL not being human or realistic enough. Bratz don’t have any noses and have detachable feet but you don’t see girls getting their noses surgically removed.

Anonymous said: No, the focus is meant to be on the SIZE of the models.

The clothing comes in multiple sizes. I don’t look at a mannequin and go OOP THAT MANNEQUIN IS A SIZE THREE I GUESS I CAN’T WEAR THESE.

Mannequins are made to show off the clothing, and unless you’re shopping in a plus size section/store there is literally no reason to make them any bigger (or smaller, for that matter).

It’s one thing to say models are too skinny, or pictures are too airbrushed, but those are actual human beings setting up actual human standards. Mannequins are just mannequins and you should treat them as such.

i’m using my mom’s computer because mine is busted and i found this old old old picture of me from like last summer.
my feelings about this include but are not limited to:
-it looks almost nothing like me-and makes me look all maturish and whatnot-why can’t I always look this attractive-life isn’t fair

my feelings about this include but are not limited to:

-it looks almost nothing like me
-and makes me look all maturish and whatnot
-why can’t I always look this attractive
-life isn’t fair

I’ve always liked the way it smells when someone burns or barbecues something at night, but it just occurred to me that for all these years I could’ve been enjoy the smell of someone’s home burning down.

Mmmm, tragedy and loss.

Dude the guy that keeps falling asleep in my English class is a grade A douche.

For some stupid reason my teacher decided to talk to this other kid about turning in his assignment on the college website in front of EVERYONE instead of after class,
and he said something about not having a flashdrive or some stupid bullshit, idk
and Narcolepsy Ned chimes in with something like “IF YOU DON’T HAVE A FLASH DRIVE THAT’S ON YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH”

okay asswipe
last time i checked, she was talking to someone else, and not you. this is not your discussion, you are not the teacher, it is not your place to scold him for not turning in his shit. kindly turn around and shut your opinionated ass up.

he’s spoken up while i was speaking too. we had to read about one recent event that was an example of real life cause and effect and i chose the conflicts between israel and palestine in the middle east which is causing gas prices to go up because reasons, and he goes “WELL THAT AND PEOPLE ARE YADDA YADDA YADDA”
i was reading directly from the article and it wasn’t a debate

if he always runs his mouth like this he’s gonna get hit one day, maybe not by me or anyone in my class,
but it’s gonna happen.
